A RESOLUTION
Remembering and honoring the life of Mr. James Anderson "Bubba" Dunlap; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Mr. James Anderson "Bubba" Dunlap was born in Gainesville on May 5, 1920; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dunlap served his country honorably as a captain in the United States Army, during which time he participated in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Bronze Star, and as a civilian aide to the Secretary of the Army during the Truman and Eisenhower administrations; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dunlap, a graduate of Davidson College and the University of Georgia School of Law, had a distinguished legal career, practicing law in the firm of Whelchel & Dunlap, and tirelessly worked for the advancement of higher education in our state by serving on the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia from 1960 to 1974, including his tenure as chairman from 1963 to 1967; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dunlap leaves behind his loving and devoted family, including his wife Mary Eleanor Hosch Dunlap; his daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and John Johns and Eleanor and James Henderson; his sons and daughters-in-law, Edgar and Sarah Dunlap and James and Leigh Dunlap; and his grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Dunlap, Sarah Katharine Dunlap, Randall Lee Fiveash, Jr., and wife Moe Jelline, Farrell Bennett Dunlap, Anna Katharine Johns, James Dixon Johns, Mary Eleanor Henderson, and Alice Dunlap Henderson; and
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia lost a most estimable citizen and an invaluable public servant on September 29, 2005, with the passing of Mr. James Anderson "Bubba" Dunlap.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join together to express their deepest regret at the passing of Mr. James Anderson "Bubba" Dunlap and extend their most sincere condolences to his family.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Mary Dunlap.
