U.S. Department of State is Now Accepting Applications for its 2013 Diversity Immigrant Visa Program
Each year, the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program makes available 50,000 diversity visas to a random selection of individuals who are from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States.
The U.S. Department of State holds an annual lottery to determine who gets one of the 50,000 diversity visas. To be eligile, one must apply for the lottery during the online entry registration period. Entries for the 2013 Diversity Visa Lottery must be submitted electronically between October 4, 2011 and November 5, 2011. Diversity visa lottery winners are notified by mail and, if they qualify, are granted a visa.
